Talia Avrahamzon awarded the 2018 Joan Uhr Prize

Talia Avrahamzon

Monday 17 December 2018

CAEPR PhD Scholar Talia Avrahamzon has been awarded the 2018 Joan Uhr prize by the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation. This prize is awarded to the Sir Roland Wilson scholar or alumni who has made the greatest contribution to public policy in the past year, particularly through strengthening the links between the APS and the ANU. The prize was named after the founding Executive Director of the Foundation, Joan Uhr, in recognition of her contributions.

During the past few years Talia has:

  • Initiated and established a 12-month Policy-Research Indigenous Education seminar series between the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training and researchers at ANU;
  • Delivered seminars and workshops at both ACT and Commonwealth Departments, including Education and PM&C;
  • Co-Organised National Reconciliation Week ANU activities – including a post-graduate showcase of Indigenous Studies research to ANU Council and published an ANU booklet on post-graduate Indigenous Studies research;
  • Presented at both national and International conferences on her research into Everyday Reconciliation at Primary Schools; and
  • Co-authored book chapters.

Well done Talia!
